Dono Sushi Cafe in Chino offers a straightforward, no-frills dining experience centered on Japanese staples like sushi, sashimi, and ramen, with a dash of Korean influence through items like bulgogi. Located in a busy shopping center off Grand Avenue, this spot feels like a dependable neighborhood joint where familiar faces and steady foot traffic are common, especially on weekends and holidays.

Visitors can expect a lively but welcoming atmosphere. The staff is attentive and communicative, even during busy periods, which helps ease the wait times that come with their high demand and occasional sushi chef shortages. Whether you drop in for a quick lunch or a casual evening meal, the vibe remains approachable—practical rather than trendy.

The menu highlights a wide range of sushi rolls—from classics like California Roll and Rainbow Roll to crowd-pleasers like the Caterpillar Roll and Spicy Tuna. For those who lean toward variety, the all-you-can-eat option is popular, noted for its breadth of rolls and appetizers, including favorites like gyoza, miso soup, and fried garlic green beans. The quality consistently leans fresh, making each bite satisfying without fanfare.

Families, groups of friends, and sushi newcomers find this spot especially accommodating. It’s the kind of place where regulars bring family, and first-timers can feel comfortable exploring Japanese cuisine without intimidation. Early evenings, especially on weekends, tend to be busy but manageable, while weekday lunches offer a quieter window to enjoy dishes like teriyaki salmon or a combo roll set.

In essence, Dono Sushi Cafe fits neatly into Chino’s casual dining landscape, offering a solid, familiar Japanese menu where the focus is on genuine flavors and steady service rather than elaborate presentation. It’s ideal for anyone looking for dependable sushi and Japanese fare in a relaxed, familiar setting.

I have been coming to this restaurant on and off for many many years. Having moved to Hawaii I haven't gone in a few years. I was so happy that they are still in business. I was visiting family in Pomona and stopped by for dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was packed but we were able to get seating fairly quickly. We all ordered the same item which is the salmon roll. It was delicious and tasted fresh. I could have eaten 2 plates of it. I tried the yakisoba but was way too sweet for my liking. In Hawaii we eat it more savory. We were also given miso soup which was extremely appreciated considering it was a cool evening. service was great and prompt. I will definitely be returning when I am visiting family again.

I didn’t realize that I live so close to Dono Sushi and haven’t been here before! Came here on New Years Day for dinner and they were very busy! Everyone was very nice and attentive. Although it was busy I really appreciate that our server let us know that it will be a bit of a wait since they were down 2 sushi chefs. The sushi was well worth the wait! We ordered the chino roll, gyoza, baked mussels, & a dinner combo with miso soup. Ugh so good! I’m definitely coming here more often and I’m glad I found my go-to sushi spot. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for some bomb sushi.

Was craving some sushi while in the area and didn't want to our usual spot in Corona. Dono Sushi Cafe is located in a very busy shopping center behind Pot on Fire. Upon entering Dono Sushi Cafe, we were greeted by all the staff. We felt like family. They have AYCE and regular a la carte menu. We chose the AYCE. They have large variety of rolls and appetizers for their AYCE menu. We were very impressed. All the rolls are categorized so you know whether your roll has raw fish or not. I really appreciated this extra step in their menu. Our favorite roll was the Canyon roll, we just could not get enough of it. It is in their Baked roll section. We also enjoyed the baked mussels. I will definitely be coming back to Dono Sushi Cafe.

Visited during lunch time and had the "All you can eat" option. I don't have much to say because the pictures here will do the talking. I do want to stress that the food was extremely fresh and tasted like heaven one piece at a time. DELISH! The staff was very friendly and helpful with making selections.

5 years ago I came here with my then girlfriend, now wife. Dono Sushi Cafe was the first place I ever had sushi and I'm so glad it was. Great sushi then and the same great sushi now!

My husband's favorite sushi place from high school. The last time I came was 2 years ago, the quality of food has gone down a bit and the presentation is not as delicate as before. I'm sure it's still a gem to the people of Chino Hills. But there are much better options else where.

I've been coming to Dono Shushi for years. While there have been many changes, the good food and friendly staff has remained consistent. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the prices. I understand businesses require price adjustments for all different reasons, but this affects consumers as well. The trick is to know where to look, and if you look Dono's menu closely, you'll find they have a happy hour section! So if your on a budget, but find yourself hankering for some sushi, drop by Dono between 3pm to 5pm. The happy hour menu selection is small, but can help keep some of the cost down.
